Pastoral Care Ministry

The Pastor’s Aid Ministry

“Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture says, you shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain, and, the laborer is worthy of his reward.”

(1 Tim. 5:17-18)

Mission& Objectives

New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church:  The Mission of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry is to provide support for the Pastor and First Lady.  The name of this ministry practically defines its function. It provides aid to our Pastor and his family.

Often we emphasize that the entire membership of the church is a part of the Pastor’s Aid. Why? Each of us is responsible for the care and well-being of our Pastor and his family.

In accordance with our mission, the Pastor’s Aid Ministry’s primary responsibility is to support the Pastor financially, emotionally and spiritually. We do this first through much prayer and consecration. It is the continuous prayers of this ministry (and the entire congregation) for the man of God and the first family that offers the most support.

Spiritual, Financial & Emotional Support System

In addition to prayers for and with our Pastor, financial assistance is provided as well. Members may assist in areas of the Pastor's life that general membership may not be aware of. Working as a Pastor's Aid ministry member requires spirituality and confidentiality.

Anticipation of the Pastor's Needs

The Ministry goal is to ensure there is no lack for the pastor or his direct family members. This may include providing the Pastor and his family with lodging, transportation and meals, whether he is home or away from home. If the Pastor is out of town, the committee may send him a card, money or care package.

Pastor Appreciation

The Pastor's Aid Ministry is responsible for showing emotional support and appreciation to the pastor on behalf of the other congregants. On occasion, the committee may host a celebratory service for the pastor and his family. When planning for such services, the committee will solicit gifts from the congregation. The committee recognizes occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, Father's Day, Christmas and Clergy Appreciation Month.

Guest Minister & Associate Minister Assistance

Whenever a guest minister or Associate Minister serves at the church, the Pastor's Aid is supportive of their role both financially and physically. The Pastor's Aid Ministry helps to ensure that guest ministers are comfortable during their time away from their home church.

To be a member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry one must be willing to be a servant first; they must have a heart and mind to serve. Members must have faith in God and know that He has placed them in this position for such a time. They must also believe in the vision that God has given our Pastor. Members must be able and willing to give of themselves to serve God through the Man of God, respecting him and complying with the commands and demands that God has given.

In our ministry we acknowledge the office that our Pastor occupies and recognize that he is not just a man but a Man of God. We work with the understanding that our ultimate goal is to be a blessing to our Good Shepherd for the upbuilding of His Kingdom.

The Pastor’s Aid member must be faithful in the following areas:

• Able and willing to help care for the Pastor

• Open to supporting the Pastor’s vision and missions

• Trust the Pastor in financial regards

• Actively participate in fundraising activities

• Attend Ministry meetings

• Have an initiative to learn

• Take on responsibilities

• Willingness to share ideas and thoughts for improvement
