Bible Study

What you do matters—there is a purpose for your life

Mission Statement: We through bible study strive to connect people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ so they will grow to be Great Commission Christians who will engage in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry and worship.

Purpose Statement: To equip members with the word of God so a trans-formation will come into their hearts, homes and communities.

Many people go through life feeling discouraged about themselves and thinking they do not have a purpose in life. But that’s not true. Whoever you are—whatever your life experiences, talents, physical ability or role--- you have a purpose.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. (Ephesians 2:10)

Notice two points in this verse:

1. God created you. You are not an accident.

2. God has a plan for you. You have a purpose in life.

Now you are created to know God and what better way than through Bible Study.

Our bible study is every Wednesday at 7:30 pm and we convene for one hour. Our pastor, (Rev. Orlando T. Riley Sr.) believes that if too much information is given on a single night, a very little will be retained. His goal is to be as effective as possible for that one hour period.

We have accommodations for Adults, Teens and Children’s bible study simultaneously.

We at New Bethel invite you to come and join us here in our bible study on Wednesdays.

Sunday School

Jesus said “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
(Matthew 24:35)

This lets us know that the only enduring thing in this world is god’s word

Sunday school is one of the resources that gives everyone the opportunity to learn god’s word and the spirit shows us the way. Our wise and dedicated teaching staff are willing and committed to honoring gods word and impart what the holy spirit has given them to the students.  Their purpose is to plant the seed of obedience, to show the fruit of the spirit, and to demonstrate how to use the sword of the spirit, which is the word of god.  Everyone is encouraged to participate and is given the opportunity to ask questions.  Why don’t you join us on Sunday mornings so all of us can learn what god has done, is doing and will do.  Let us prepare together for the final phase of our spiritual journey so we can fulfill our whole duty as explained in – Ecclesiastes 12:13 “…the conclusion of the whole matter: fear god and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man.” Let us come together and learn how to revere god and keep his commandments.

New Membership Class

We at New Bethel are always excited when we receive new members to join our local family.

We want each new member to understand and reaffirm his/her conversion experience as well as their commitment to Christ and the Church. In this dialogue the new members will be able to understand and accept the privileges and responsibilities for church membership. New Membership Class will also help each individual become a growing participant in the life and ministry of the Christian fellowship.

Who should attend new member’s class? Everyone who joins New Bethel Baptist Church is expected to attend the class on Sunday mornings at 09:30 am. Classes are held in the Pastor’s office because membership is valued highly and not casual. The class does not necessarily add to what is needed for salvation but clarifies what is already stated. Our approach is to answer questions and concerns in a healthy way.

The Purpose:

It gives the new member a clear understanding of the significance of the new life in Christ.

It explains the responsibilities inherited because of the Christian experience.

It defines what it means to become a member of God’s church. By using God’s Word as the final authority, New Membership Class also seeks to emphasize the distinction between a true conversion and church membership.

Vacation Bible School

(Click for Online Registration)

Our Vacation Bible School is held every year usually the week after the 4th of July celebration. It has proven to be a week of fun and learning about God’s word. Each year at our annual election the church will select a director and assistant director to head this ministry.

Our VBS session runs for one week from 6pm to 9pm, Monday through Friday and is attended by children, young adults, adults and senior citizens from our church, other churches and community. We have five classes based on their ages and each class attend nightly the following classes:

Bible Class- They study God’s word and have assignments given to them.

Arts and Crafts- They will use their hands and imaginations to assemble projects associated with the annual theme that will go on display.

Recreation- They have game activities such as basketball, volleyball etc.

Music- They will learn a song and will perform that version on Sunday at the awards and certificate ceremony.

Dinner- They will dine with their classmates and instructors. Each evening a different meal is served.

Our teachers begin training not long after the New Year so they can adequately prepare themselves for this Godly mission. The VBS session begins with a devotional and ends with an assembly where the classes have representatives and ends with the theme song for the week.

Our goal is to introduce to those who have never heard about Jesus, the best friend that he/she will ever know, the Savior of the world and to further educate those who do know Him.

Our purpose is to provide an annual summer experience of education and evangelism through which the congregation’s ministry to its children and adults is enhanced and its ministry to the people of the community is advanced.

We at New Bethel invite you to join us and we promise that you will have a good time.
