Executive Ministries

Trustee Ministry

"For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?"
Luke 14:28

We believe that this scripture admonishes us as a ministry, to be prudent and wise concerning the business affairs of the church. Additionally we strive to be spiritually committed to the move and instruction of God.

Purpose Statement: to ensure that disciple-making ministries of the congregation are effective and that local legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.

Mission Statement: to protect and preserve the physical and financial integrity of the church.

We have nine trustees.  Annually, three of them go on the rotation list where they are named to be reinstated back into their office or replaced by someone else. The Trustee Board has no power to buy, sell, mortgage, lease or transfer real estate property without specific authority by vote of the congregation.

Because of the great effort of these individuals, New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church meets its financial goals and objectives in fulfilling the spiritual needs of the congregation and the great community which it serves.

Joint Board Ministry

Responsibilities:

Ensure Legal Compliance - We make sure that we adhere to laws that govern nonprofit organizations. In doing so we must participate in decision making and use good judgment while setting aside personal interests.

Financial Oversight - We must be responsible for the organization’s stewardship, financial accountability and solvency, (the state of being able to pay debts). This financial oversight includes identifying independent outside auditors to perform occasional audits to ensure good business practices and compliance with state and federal laws.

Maintain Supporting Documents and Board Records - We are responsible for ensuring all board records are kept including board minutes, mission, vision, value statements, church bylaws, articles of incorporation and any policies that govern the board function.

Strategic Planning - The Joint Board is responsible for articulating the church’s core mission and developing a strategy and plan to achieve it. This is a very critical area for the sustainability of our church. While there is the need for open and honest, (and yes sometimes heated) discussions within the board meeting itself, the board should always remain unified in its position within the church. Once a decision is made, everyone should be supportive of that decision. When confronted with difficult and potentially divisive issues, what sustains the unity of the church is the unity of the board.
